Powell River, B.C. — In efforts to return to normal operations qathet Regional District (qRD) is transitioning away from COVID-19 Workplace Safety Plans and now shifting to a Communicable Disease Prevention Plan.
Developed by qRD Occupational Health and Safety, the Communicable Disease Prevention Plan adheres with Step 3 of the Province of British Columbia’s Re-Start Plan as well as WorkSafeBC guidelines for communicable disease prevention focusing on basic risk reduction principles to reduce the risk of transmission of COVID-19 and other communicable diseases.
The fundamental components of the plan are:
- Staying home when you are sick
- Practicing appropriate hand hygiene
- Cleaning & sanitation
- Ensuring proper ventilation
- Supporting employee vaccination
- Supporting employee mental health
The qRD communicable disease prevention strategies will take effect immediately in all qRD offices, facilities, parks, cemeteries, beach accesses and campgrounds. The qRD will follow all applicable Orders, guidelines and recommendations of the Provincial Health Officer, including those regarding the use of masks.
All qRD facilities are now fully open and offices are now open to the public. That includes group camping at our campgrounds. Those wishing to visit the office are encouraged to call ahead and make an appointment when possible.
qRD Board and Standing Committee meetings will be offered via a combination of in-person, telephone and virtual attendance going forward. If a member of the public is interested in attending a meeting virtually or by telephone, they should contact the Regional District at 604-485-2260 or email@example.com.
Members of the public are asked not to visit any qRD facilities if they are sick. It is important to acknowledge that every individual is moving forward at their own pace according to their own comfort level. Please continue to respect the personal space of others, and have patience as we navigate this new phase.
