qathet Regional District Hosts Resilient Community Evacuation Workshop series for Community Preparedness throughout April

qathet, BC – As part of its ongoing commitment to community safety and preparedness, the qathet Regional District is pleased to announce a series of grant-funded workshops designed to enhance community resilience and preparedness in the face of emergencies. The Regional Emergency Preparedness Program invites citizens, organizations, and first responders to participate in the upcoming Evacuation Workshops being hosted throughout the region in April.

These workshops offer interactive demonstrations on emergency evacuation planning activities for households and the larger community, including mapping and evacuation route scenarios, tours of our Evacuation Supply Containers, and practical emergency preparedness information. Participants will gain invaluable knowledge and skills to better prepare themselves, their families, and their communities for potential emergencies.

Partnerships are integral to the success of these workshops. In the City of Powell River, the workshops are being delivered in collaboration with the Powell River Recreation Complex. Similarly, on Texada Island, the workshop will be integrated into the Community Emergency Preparedness Fair in partnership with Texada Emergency Services. The qathet Regional District thanks our community and government partners for their support in delivering these important workshops.

“In times of crisis, having a well-prepared and coordinated response is crucial,” said Clay Brander, Chair of the qathet Regional District. “These workshops foster partnerships and empower our region to respond to emergencies effectively.”
