The Texada/Gillies Bay Airport (CYGB) is a community airport owned and operated by qathet Regional District and is a service paid for by the taxpayers of Texada Island (Electoral Area D). Our airport hosts a number of annual events including an aerospace camp and fly-in. The airport is also home to the Airbuzz Mk II flight simulator as well as the Texada Aviation Museum and Library. Visits to the Texada Aviation Museum and Library, and the AirBuzz Flight Simulator can be arranged by appointment during the week from 11:00 AM to 3:00 PM from 1st of March until further notice. To schedule an appointment please call 604-223-2588 or email dgart@telus.net. Groups of up to 10 people can be accommodated for museum tours. Only two people per “flight” can be accommodated in the AirBuzz. Masks and sanitizing are required for all visitors, please.

 

PLEASE BE ADVISED THAT IN ORDER TO KEEP OUR STAFF, CUSTOMERS AND COMMUNITY SAFE, WE HAVE BEEN EXERCISING PROTOCOLS SUGGESTED BY THE PROVINCIAL HEALTH OFFICER, MINISTRY OF HEALTH AND HEALTH EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT BC. OUR AIRPORT TERMINAL AND PUBLIC WASHROOMS ARE OPEN TO THE PUBLIC.  CAMPING IS ALSO PERMITTED THOUGH MAXIMUM OCCUPANCY LIMITS WILL BE POSTED AND ENFORCED. PLEASE REVIEW THE CAMPING RECOMMENDATIONS

Scheduled flights to and from the airport are currently suspended; however, qathet Regional District is pursuing a qualified airline to reinstate the service.
