New Logo Developed for the Savary Island Volunteer Fire Department

qathet, BC – The qathet Regional District is pleased to announce that the Savary Island Volunteer Fire Department (SIVFD) has implemented a new logo that graphically represents the mission of the SIVFD.

Each component of the logo carries significance for both members and the public:

• The central emblem, the Maltese Cross, symbolizes the longstanding commitment of volunteer members to safeguard lives and property, a mission rooted in history.

• The SIVFD encompasses two vital emergency services: firefighting and medical first response, denoted respectively by the Fire Helmet and the Star of Life.

• A dedication to safety is depicted by a subtle shape reminiscent of a marine safety buoy, reflecting the unique challenges faced by our devoted volunteer members in Savary Island’s remote setting. Additionally, there is a focus on preserving the island’s exceptional natural beauty and appeal.

“The qathet Regional District appreciates the efforts by our volunteers, and is thrilled to endorse this beautiful, inclusive new logo,” said Clay Brander, qathet Regional District Board Chair. “In today’s society showing respect and consideration without crossing lines or causing harm, is paramount. This includes valuing human rights, promoting inclusivity, and standing against all forms of discrimination, bullying, and harassment.”

“This new logo has been a long time in the making and certainly not an easy exercise,” said Ryan Thoms, Manager of Emergency Services. “We thank everybody that was involved with the development and roll out. We are very pleased with the final outcome and are happy to have this logo representing the SIVFD.”
