The Northside Volunteer Fire Department (NVFD) has been providing fire and emergency response services since 1968. The NVFD relies on the commitment of local volunteers dedicated to public safety and community service. Joining the NVFD is a rewarding opportunity that comes with many benefits. New recruit training begins in September. The fire halls are staffed on a volunteer basis. For volunteering inquiries, please contact the qRD main office at 604-485-2260.
NVFD’s Fire Protection service area includes properties from just north of the Village of Lund south to Wilde Road and includes properties on the west side of Okeover Inlet as far north as Penrose Bay. Many properties in the service area now qualify for “equivalent to fire hydrant protection” on their insurance policies. The Fire Underwriter Survey has updated the Canadian Fire Insurance Grading Index to show the Dwelling Protection Grade for properties that qualify within the service area. Click here to see the map showing the equivalent to fire hydrant rating DPG 3B(s).
